Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the World Yoruba Union platform, including worldyorubaunion.org, member accounts, digital membership cards, and any related services (together, the "Platform"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your credentials confidential. You may not share your account or transfer it to another person.

2. Membership

Membership in the World Yoruba Union is granted at the discretion of the Union and its chapters and is subject to any tier-specific terms, dues, and eligibility requirements announced from time to time. Membership status, tier, and expiration are reflected in your account.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any chapter or committee.
Post content that is unlawful, hateful, discriminatory, harassing, defamatory, or that infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights.
Interfere with the security, integrity, or performance of the Platform.
Use the Platform to send spam or unsolicited commercial communications.
Attempt to access accounts, data, or areas of the Platform you are not authorized to access.

4. Content you submit

You retain ownership of content you submit to the Platform, and you grant the Union a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and use that content for the purpose of operating the Platform and delivering Union services. You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant this license.

5. Directory and public content

You control the visibility of your directory profile. Publicly visible content — such as business listings you publish or chapter announcements — may be indexed by search engines and displayed to visitors.

6. Fees and refunds

Where membership dues, event fees, or donations apply, terms specific to those transactions will be presented at the time of payment. Unless otherwise stated, fees are non-refundable.

7. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Union, members, or the Platform. You may close your account at any time by contacting info@worldyorubaunion.org.

8. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Union disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Union and its officers, trustees, employees, and chapters will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or use, arising out of your use of the Platform.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
